The book review came to me just when I was wondering how the Central Asians came to India some 1500 years ago and ruled it until the arrival Europeons/British arrived with better gun powder. It just occurred to me that the main reason why the Central Asians defeated the natives mainly because they came with better horses what are now called the warm-blooded breeds.
Another point that I would like to mention is that to pass the Indian Civil Service you had to pass the riding exam so that in all probably British India was ruled by trained eqistrians.
I may also mention that according to folklore, Alexander's father predicted that he will be great conqueror when he tamed and rode a wild horse brought by a horse trader.
